Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell (born August 25, 1949) is an American television chef and host. She was also a former instructor of the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers straightforward, simple techniques to master for home cooks on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. The chef Burrell is also a veteran of New York City's best restaurants. She also has explored Italy's cuisine and its culture along with the natural geography. Early on, while growing up in New York's Upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the catalyst for her passion for restaurant management after she earned the English and Communications degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I was awed by every moment." The Culinary Institute of the Americas was a fantastic location to learn. Following graduation, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending Umbria. She also attended the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. While in Italy, Chef Burrell acquired an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian food. It had a significant influence on her perception of food. Burrell has served on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which helps brighten children who are facing difficulties. She also serves as an Juvenile diabetes research foundation Celebrity Ambassador where she promotes juvenile diabetes awareness. She has been a frequent speaker at conferences and travels the country as part of her mentorship job. Anne said she felt lucky to be able to communicate her love of cooking to other people.
